The Department of Information and Communication Studies is composed of three specialisations;

Those wishing to pursue the MA programmes can enrol either in the course work or research based programmes. Visit the Faculty prospectus to find information on your eligibility for admission. Below are the three specialisations and their programme offerings:

  • Masters of Arts (MA) (Records and Archives Management)

Media Studies:

The Media Studies programme has three streams; Public Relations and Advertising; Electronic Media and Print Media with a heavy input of digital media cutting across all the three specialisations.

Complementary to our traditional mode of delivery of teaching and learning, students develop skills through professional practice during which third and fourth year students are attached to professional corporate entities to provide them with experiential learning in their chosen areas of specialisation. In addition, the Department houses the UNAM Radio which can be heard at 97.4 FM as well as UNAM Echo, a publication designed for print media students. The Department also hosts a computer laboratory with modern industry-compliant software used by students in all the three specialisations. These facilities give students added advantage to practice and sharpen their skills throughout the duration of their studies.

The department has a staff complement of eleven (11) full time lecturers of which two (2) are professor and associate professor respectively, four (4) are PhD holders and five (5) Masters degree holders.
